Calculon is an arrogant and pompous acting robot. He mostly acts in melodramatic roles, prefers overwrought and somewhat absurd plots and characters. His most famous role is in the long-running soap opera All My Circuits, in which he plays the lead character (also named Calculon) and, presumably, his six evil identical septuplets, one of whom is named Sleazy Martinez. Calculon was also the star of the film Dr. Zoidberg and his uncle made in the episode "That's Lobstertainment!" and starred in the film Coilette, the Calculon Story which was based on his romance with Bender (in female form) in the episode "Bend Her".
In the episode "The Honking", it is revealed that Calculon began his existence in the 21st century as a standard industrial robot. He was used in the development of Project Satan, the most evil vehicle ever made, and as a result he received the curse of the were-car. Since then he has been posing as an acting robot, upgrading his appearance every few decades to avoid suspicion. His former identities include Acting Unit 0.8, Thespomat and David Duchovny. This creates a minor inconsistency, since Duchovny's head can be seen in a jar in "Space Pilot 3000" and "A Head in the Polls"; possibly Calculon impersonated Duchovny after the latter became a jarred head.
In the episode "The Devil's Hands Are Idle Playthings", Calculon credits the Robot Devil for his "unholy" acting talent. While this could simply be a coincidence, it could also be a reference to the fact Calculon owes his existence to Project Satan.
