I hope no one minds if I go back to the topic.....?
I've always liked Renaissance artists: Da Vinci, Raphael, Michelangelo. Also really like Vermeer. Not so sure about modern artists.
I'm a Vermeer fan....have you seen the movie...'Girl With a Pearl'?
His work is so opaque and glowing....
How about Bruegel and Gustave Dore...?
1B-DI
27-01-2007, 12:24 AM
I LOVE that movie! It's so beautiful!
I haven't really heard of Bruegel, I think I may have heard of Gustave Dore, not sure. Time for another trip to Google!
1B-DI
27-01-2007, 12:26 AM
Wow...Bruegel's The Tower of Babel is amazing...love to see it in real life.
I confuse him with Bosch a lot.......name wise I guess.....I also like Tadema. Google up!!

I've always liked Renaissance artists: Da Vinci, Raphael, Michelangelo. Also really like Vermeer. Not so sure about modern artists.
we had to study different artists in art at school mainly van gough though, some of the stuff anne ghedi did was pretty cute although im not sure if her stuff is really classed as art
jle1993
27-01-2007, 12:57 PM

So far, everything you've shown me is great, Gort! This is fun!
Okay here's one for ya.....Kirk Reinert....WOW!!! Check out his website....You likey??? Let Gort know!! The 'girl' with the bird on her finger is one of my favorite pieces.....like I said....WOW!!
cerberus
29-01-2007, 02:33 PM
i'll take a look for you gort, lol!
Okay Bitey, but that was for BD....or anyone else too. You had said you weren't much into art is all I mean.... I'll make you gain an interest!!! If you like Futurama, there's a whole world of art you would enjoy! Too many kids are raised to picture art as boring...ya know...Art=DiVinci......boring old paintings. I can show you great pieces of art with robots blowing stuff up, or dragons attacking a village....you get my point, eh?
cerberus
29-01-2007, 03:49 PM
yeah, cool, i've been raise with the 'arts crap' type of stuff. i'd like to see some of these paintings you mention.
Type in Frank Frazetta. Enjoy.
He's SUPER famous...and I met him once!

I'm SO glad you enjoy my art advice....that makes me very happy!!!
Now check out Cicely Mary Barker....Flower Fairies.....
Then....Arthur Rackham
Then...Kay Neilson
Then....Oh, alright....I'll let ya catch up!!

29-01-2007, 06:25 PM
Gort, you once said that you taught an art class. What kind of class was it?
cerberus
29-01-2007, 06:29 PM
you taught an art class? cool!
It's kind of a long, bragging type story, but here goes....
When I was in High School my art teacher arranged for me to teach a class at the local elementary school....twice a week, for one semester, they would send an ENTIRE school bus for me....and only me...to pick me up and drive me...then I would teach the class how to draw cartoons and shapes and how to shade and all that kinda stuff!! I got a full credit for that....also did all the drama class playbills and yearbook drawings....I loved working with kids....such fun!!!
8) 8) cool, baby...that's Gort... 8) 8)
cerberus
29-01-2007, 06:47 PM
very cool gort... weren't the kids bratty at all?
1B-DI
29-01-2007, 06:55 PM
That is pretty cool. I was an intern in a 5th grade class my senior year of HS but never got to do anything like that...I was basically a math tutor. That sucked. And I had to drive myself.
The kids were great!! Hung on my every word...they had fun!! I MADE them have fun, dammit...
Bd....math, eh?
That's the only thing Gort sucks at REALLY badly...good for you though!!!
Probably why I can't do f'ing riddles too.....wrong kind of brain....
cerberus
29-01-2007, 06:59 PM
woooooooo, i'm flexo now!
1B-DI
29-01-2007, 07:06 PM
I HATE MATH...but at the 5th grade level it was super-easy, just basically fractions and multiplication, long division. Going into my internship, I thought I'd actually be able to teach some lessons. No such luck. I was sent out into the hall with a group of about 4 or 5 kids who just didn't understand math at all and helped them with their homework.
Not for long if you don't quit posting so much....right now it matches ya!!
cerberus
29-01-2007, 07:09 PM
yeah, but you know that my late tonight or early tomorrow it'll change, lol!
OK......back to art.....( Zoidberg..." one 'art' please" lol )...did you check out Barkers' Flower Fairies BD?

And so is nature...ever seen a glass butterfly?? WOW.......
Oh, and I love architecture too....Gaudi, Wright etc...
cerberus
29-01-2007, 09:01 PM

Art is what you make of it....it's what you like dude!!
cerberus
29-01-2007, 09:25 PM

Theatre is art, Physical, Emotional, Narrative, its all an art form
Yup......and the human expression of those things through painting and drawing, music and dance, sculpture and literature, and all our invented means, are representative of how we are affected by the world around us!!!
Art Rules!!
jle1993
30-01-2007, 03:21 PM
Art is from the soul, at least, real art is.
And what makes up the soul, is art itself!!
jle1993
30-01-2007, 03:27 PM
A soul feels, art makes you feel, the two are nessercery for each other
jle1993
