Great news (http://toyfair10.asmzine.com/gallery/toynami/index2.html) puny humans, Toynami's Futurama line goes on!!!
http://toyfair10.asmzine.com/gallery/toynami/slides/IMG_4227.jpg
My first impression is YES!!! - the line is continuing and we're getting more figures!
My second impression is YES!!! - Morbo and URL were at the top of my list, and obsolete Bender was on my mind too and looks great.
My third impression is WTF!? - Morbo is huge! That said, quickly Googled Morbo and he is bigger than I remembered - at least 50% bigger than puny humans.
http://ordable.com/img/lists/and-now-the-fake-news-best-fake-news-reporters/items/2708200901793morbo.jpg http://images2.fanpop.com/images/quiz/43838_1217872753410_320_240.jpg
Anyone have any screenshots of Morbo actually standing up in full beside a human? We're so used to him sitting, but he probably is huge. That said, found a couple of things, and he seems to vary, sometimes not much bigger, other times quite a bit bigger.
Here's a short clip on YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JU94q9xoMr8&feature=related) where at the very end Bender walks by and his eyes are at shoulder-height for Morbo's wife, which would put his eyes at about mid-chest height for Morbo. And Morbo is slouching as his wife does his tie. So maybe Toynami's not far off.
That aside, I think all three figures look great. And I think this is just the teaser, with more to come as part of this new series/wave. Morbo could be the build-a-figure or not. Regardless, I'm guessing that there's bound to be at least another couple of figures (one more + BAF, or two more if Morbo is the BAF). Probably still to be confirmed - as the little sign says these are "Summer 2010", which means time to announce a few more. Maybe someone at ToyFair will ask the Toynami reps to clarify their plans and post something somewhere.
But for now, I'm celebrating!
It occurs to me that with Morbo and URL in the pipeline, Toynami will have now covered all the characters it produced in its I-Men line (http://www.mwctoys.com/REVIEW_080204b.htm) - just in case anyone's keeping score.

i still would love to get ahold of the i-men, but it's rare to see 'em on ebay..and when i do i have no moneys.
man, i can't wait for these figures tho..i've been wanting a morbo probably like everyone else.
i wonder if they'll do a 6 figure or another 4 figure wave. i could see it as for being morbos head, torso, legs and arms for the four...but i don't see what could fill the other two if they made it a 6 figure wave.
edit: in researching i don't think that toynami is goin to make the box bigger for just one figure, so fingers crossed he will be the BAB, but only time will tell.
man, i hate time!

Something from Figures.com (http://www.figures.com/forums/news/9941-tf2010-futurama-series-9-a.html) on the order of things with the new figures:
Toynami had on display at Toy Fair their ninth assortment of Futurama action figures. Following the just completed Roberto Build-A-Bot wave, Futurama Series 9 will include Wooden Bender from the episode Obsoletely Fabulous, and URL, the smooth-taling robot peace officer. Look for these great new figures this summer.
Also unveiled was Morbo the Annihilator, host of Tea with Titans and co-anchor of Entertainment And Earth Invasion Tonite. The brainy alien may be part of Series 10 or either become the Build-A-Figure (Build-A-Brain?). Toynami will be making an announcement within the coming months regarding his placement in the line.

i hope he's the build a figure, or better yet a san diego exclusive.
i also hope we get a scruffy. then the planet express crew will be complete. i wonder if they'll add a robot 1X to the accessories bender will have. as i recall he isn't that big, and was detrimental to that episode.

Confirmation that Morbo is the build-a-figure!
Slurmed has a write-up on this (http://slurmed.com/news/2010-03-10/official-futurama-toynami-wave-9-with-morbo-as-the-build-a-figure) along with some pictures:

http://slurmed.com/imgs/news/2010/03/merch_futurama-toynami_morbo-build-a-figure_big.jpg
I'm thinking we'll hear soon about what other figures will be in the Morbo build-a-figure wave as they'll need to be on the box covers for these ones that are bound to be going into production sooner rather than later.

lets see if we can reel in a response from jaba. i follow you on PEEL cuz you know your futurama figures.
i'd make one of those elaborate posts you do with the pictures and such, but i don't know how to do that.
what're your thoughts on this years comic con exclusive being a plush?! you think they ran out of ideas? and have we any news on the next series after 9?
jabalong
12-07-2010, 12:49 AM
Hey there, don't quite know what to conclude about this year's comic-con exclusive.
As a collector of the figure line, I'm disappointed as figured we'd be a lock to have another exclusive this year. If nothing else, I expected Toynami to keep going with the alternate universe Planet Express crew and give us Amy, Hermes and/or Farnsworth with alternate paint jobs.
So why no exclusive figure? I gather that Toynami wants to promote its new line of plushies and was only going to have one Futurama exclusive so hence no figure. Is this a bad sign for the future of the figure line? I don't know, I hope not. On the bright side, Toynami is doing another line of Futurama stuff, which shows they still believe in the show and maybe that's a good thing in terms of the figures continuing.
I hope we get some news at SDCC 2010 about what other figures are going to be in the Morbo series, as I don't believe it's just going to be Obsolete Bender and URL. Looking forward to seeing the pictures of their booth in a few weeks.

do you think they'll go with the four figure line, or a six, like the first two lines.
jabalong
12-07-2010, 11:12 PM
No idea really, but my guess would be that it will stay with four.
nacirema
12-07-2010, 11:16 PM
yeah, that's lame.
kinda looks like toynami is losing faith in the original 6 figures per line.
but i see morbo being a head, torso, legs, and arms..i can't really think of anything that would e an accessory with him, maybe a coffee mug. hopefully they'll make linda.
you goin to buy a nibbler?
it is the rarest of them all, only 500.
Yoshirama
13-07-2010, 02:04 AM
is this a line for the new season or what?
nacirema
13-07-2010, 09:57 PM
i would assume so, a new line of plush.
i'm not into it.
and toynami just pushed the release of the new figures back two months. i'm sick of them saying they will be out, then pushing them back.
jabalong
16-07-2010, 02:37 PM
Nah, I'm not into stuffed animals either, so I won't buy the Nibbler.
It does suck that Toynami's figures take so long to come out and with unpredictable dates, but really I'm just grateful that they keep releasing more. I'll take the turtle over the hare if it means we slowly but surely keep getting more figures. Fingers crossed.

new to the forum, but definitely will be posing to the figures threads...
I think we should be happy that they are continuing a futurama line... and hopefully the new episodes will spark more interest and more series past 10.
As for 10 I am happy at least that we will know by the time we see the series 9 boxes what 10 will include, personally I think not having a Scruffy in the first 10 series' would be madness.
nacirema
18-07-2010, 04:19 AM
possibly a sal.
most of the kid robot figures are already toynami figures but we need a sal and scruffy.
Anteater #1
18-07-2010, 05:12 PM
kidrobot also has slurms mckensie and Lrr. I think Lrr would make a good toynami figure as well.
nacirema
19-07-2010, 06:32 PM
i can see them doing a lrr forsure.
i mean they're doing morbo and morbos HUUUUGE.
i'd really love to have a couple more heads in the jars..i read on the peel board someone talking about how they could make a pack of them with the shelf..i think that's an awesome idea. probably won't happen.
i'd also love for them to make the planet express building, or atleast a scene where you can set up all the figures.
i have no way of displaying my collection, so it stays in a cereal box.
Anteater #1
19-07-2010, 06:43 PM
I think the heads in a jar would make a great SDCC exclusive... definitely cooler than a plush, but we can always hope...
if they were to do another head in a jar by itself it'd be cool to get someone like George Takei, or Snoop Dogg... both seem like they'd be laid back about the licensing rights since they've been on the show a couple times. I still wish they released Nixon with the headless body of Agnew (or however that name is spelled).
A display would be cool too, there are pics floating around of someones custom Lego futurama cityscape... its pretty coo
nacirema
19-07-2010, 06:50 PM
yeah, i saw that, i want it.
and the headless body of agnew would we awesome.
but the reason they probably didn't do that is because you can buy a bender from the third wave and use that.
Anteater #1
19-07-2010, 07:01 PM
wait, you can get a bender and replace his head with nixon's? That's pretty cool, I don't have my 3rd wave bender yet, but I did just get glorious golden bender on eBay, he looks pretty glorious
nacirema
19-07-2010, 07:08 PM
yeah, with all the benders you can take the heads off.
the nixon head comes with zapp, and you can take his head and put it on benders body perfectly.
the MAC bender head doesn't come off.
i just finished my MAC collection. the only thing i need now is the vinyl nibbler but i can't find it.

they have no picture but they say it's in stock.
i finished the kidrobot series last week, it will now take a lot of time to finish the toynamis for me, still need series 1 and 3, which are becoming very expensive. the alternate universe ones are really cool though.
UFO bender (from roswell that ends well) was mentioned in another thread, I think that would've been an awesome exclusive of some sort.
nacirema
19-07-2010, 10:39 PM
yeah that would be an interesting figure.
and that's waaaay too expensive for that item. i payed $150 for all of the carded MAC figures.
the most i've spent on a toynami was $130 for glorious golden bender, but that completed my collection. now i await series 9 and hope for 10, 11, 12, and 13..hell even 14, lol.

wow thats strange, I just bought GGBender for $50, it was listed as mint cond... lets hope it really was.
nacirema
20-07-2010, 01:26 AM
i bought it from toywiz and it's C9 grade, so it's worth every penny.
the only figures i have that aren't C7 or higher are the fry and zoidberg ones..they have creases on the back of the cards, but they are still unopened.
the only ones i've opened are the alternate universe blue zoidberg, cuz i got two, and the SDCC 2008 robot santa and bender cuz i put the robot santa on top of the christmas tree lastyear.
[edit] i've opened 5 of the 6 MAC ones aswel, but i haven't bought the exclusive leela to have opened in front of the rare carded version.
Anteater #1
20-07-2010, 06:01 AM
Yeah I probably shouldn't take mine out of the box, but I don't really see myself selling them ever. I keep them dust free and the boxes are all undamaged but the build-a-bots are super cool when they're built and on display. Oh well.
nacirema
20-07-2010, 06:11 AM
yeah, i feel you on that.
i'll never sell mine..the only reason i opened a couple was for sh!ts and giggles. i bought the collect-a-pak years ago and one day i just opened it, i wanted to play with the planet express ship, lol..felt like a kid again.
to me it's not about how much they're worth. it's the fact i've collected something and have every single piece to it.
Anteater #1

Also I think that new bender talks or something. Also a look at the new plushes (not as exciting as a giant Lrr figure though).

w00000.
i'm all for a talking bender.
and lrr is fcuking MASSIVE.
i wonder how they will package that in the blister, i don't think it's big enough.
i can't wait for these to come out man.
four new figures, plus morbo as the BAF, toynamis spoiling us.

Maybe the Morbo series will be just 3 figures, URL, downgraded bender, and Lrr. Unless the talking bender is actually a part of the line and would fill out series 10.
jabalong
23-07-2010, 12:07 AM
Lrrr is awesome!
Hope Talking Bender isn't part of the regular line/series, as don't need another regular Bender (even if he talks) and we've already got Obsolete Bender (who looks great) in this series. That said, if I need to buy Talking Bender to build out Morbo I will of course, but it will be reluctantly.
Anyway, the figures look great and I can't wait to get my greedy little hands on Lrrr, Morbo, URL and Obsolete Bender!

to be quite honest, i'm getting sick of bender figures. sure, they're awesome, but every series? it's getting old.
do you think toynami might do what MAC did and release store exclusives? i believe the leela was for toyfare, and chef bender was for previews exclusive. also, MAC hit it big with the stands for leela, fry and bender. i hope toynami does something like that. they do have the original MAC molds.:glare:

I agree, there are other characters that could have alternate personae figures as well, like professor, or two eyed leela, or teenage versions of the characters from that one episode. And they haven't even gotten a lot of the cool other characters like scruffy, or hypnotoad.
I think downgraded bender is a lot better than chef bender though...
<edit>
they should give the talking bender some of the ass-kicking feet from last nights episode
nacirema
23-07-2010, 10:15 PM
yeah, the chef bender that MAC made was way better..it was just the bender with a apron saying KILL ALL HUMANS.
he also had a tiny bender figure with him, and the stand.
epic fail on toynamis part for not making any stands.
Anteater #1
23-07-2010, 10:42 PM
yeah, I notice that all the figures have holes in their feet which would suggest there would be some sort of peg display you could buy...
it wouldn't be a big deal except that a lot of people who have the professor figure (and some others) have noticed that his feet are bent upward, so he is constantly bent over... which blows...
...but I agree that having kill all humans written on the chef apron or hat would've been dope
jabalong
24-07-2010, 03:23 AM
I need a Kill All Human apron to go with my regular Bender, but I still like Toynami's version of Chef Bender too as he'll look sweet to go with an Elzar figure if/when we get one.
Anteater #1
24-07-2010, 05:43 AM
Elzar should be a sure thing for series 11... And yes that would make chef bender more legit
nacirema
24-07-2010, 03:39 PM
when toynami took over MAC they got the molds for the three stands. frys cyro chamber, the suicide booth for bender, and some alien world for leela.
they need to make them for the new ones.
or atleast something like it.
Number9Man
16-09-2010, 10:25 AM
Looking forward to the Morbo and Lrr figures. They really need to stop doing Benders though and get on some of the other characters...
Scruffy, The Janitor
Cubert Farnsworth & Dwight Conrad (2-Pack)
Smitty
Elzar
Hedonism Bot (Built-A-Bot Figure)
Hypnotoad
Linda
Don Bot & Tinny Tim (2-pack)
Preacherbot (Build-A-Bot Figure)
They should also do other Exclusives for the Alternate Universe Professor, Hermes, and Amy.
And as much as I don't want to see another Bender Figure, we really do need a Flexo Figure.
Anteater #1
16-09-2010, 04:47 PM
agreed... if they dare end the line before a scruffy and hypnotoad come out... i will have a few choice words for Toynami
