These books used to scare the patootie out of me when I was a kid, but the books are more famous for their illustrations rather than the stories themselves. Yes, these are the kind of books I used to read as a child which contained illustrations such as:

And these books were for CHILDREN! CHILDREN for crying out loud! No wonder I'm so messed up today.

You can buy the whole set on Amazon for $5.99 used or $12.22 new. I would seriously buy them just for the pictures.

It's funny how these are supposed to be for kids, eh? :D

That's one of the many reasons why being a kid in the 90's was so awesome.

I don't think those would fly today. Lawsuits would be coming out the wazoo because parents would flip out and say that their child was emotionally and irreparably damaged because of those pictures. I need millions of dollars to soothe my child's suffering!

And I'll probably spend it on a couple new Escalades.

How is it now children get emotionally damaged, but back when we was kids we was alright?

Because people and parents today are morons. Instead of getting rich through hard work they decide to get rich the easy way and sue people for anything, especially in this country.

Its bloody stupid. I know for one me and Becky arnt going to be that way.

I didn't mean that all parents are morons, just the seemingly over-protective sue-happy ones. lol

Well, yeah, but the illustrations are damn scary.

But the fact is that these books were for children. When you're a child reading a story about a killer scarecrow who skins someone alive, it's pretty damn scary.
