Pretty decent start to the series. One thing I've noticed is that Bongo has a habit of having a 'giant' story as their first issues -- they did it with "The Amazing Colossal Homer" in Simpsons #1, "Big fat Trouble In Little Springfield" in Bart #1, and carry it on into this story for Futurama #1.
I felt a few parts were weak...once the whole "sea monkeys terrorizing New New York" part came up it felt that the writer wasn't sure what to do. The art was outstanding however, and overall I would think it's a fairly great read.
