gort

If you were stranded on a desert island, which 5 movies would you take with you BESIDES Futurama...( this island already has Futurama on it for some reason, apparently )...Here's mine....

House of Flying Daggers

Wizard of Oz

Casino

Barry Lyndon

Monty Python and the Holy Grail

I already am thinking of changes I would make....Hmmmm...

Sawbucks

Oh, dear me, gort! That's a very difficult decision to make! Let's see...

Anchorman

Austin Powers: Goldmember

Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl

Shrek

The Italian Job (Original Version)

gort
10-01-2007, 04:54 PM
Anchorman? Really? you sure? Hmmmmmm...Okay, if you're sure...

Just giving you a hard time buddy...I loved Ferrell on SNL but not so much in films...

By the way....I'll try not to rag on peoples decisions...I just thought it would be a fun topic...

Sawbucks
10-01-2007, 04:57 PM
Lol, by all means, rag away!

I don't mind! And that list is very likely to change, just as soon as I remember another film and slap myself in the face, screaming "I can't believe I forgot about *Insert popular though unfortunately forgotten film title here*!"

gort
10-01-2007, 05:04 PM
Yea...I can't beleive nobody has ragged on me for Wizard of Oz......I'm not a 9 year old girl...I SWEAR!!! ( usually )

Plus, you're the only one to post on this so far....

Cloverfield
10-01-2007, 05:05 PM
War of the Worlds

Don't Say a Word

Planes, Trains and Automobiles

Speed

The Matrix 3

Sawbucks
10-01-2007, 05:06 PM
Lol, I'm not the ragging type! Well, I am to 9 year old girls, so you should be safe most of the time. Anyway...Nothing wrong with a good bit yellow brick road, eh?

gort
10-01-2007, 05:11 PM
" If I only had a brain...."
Wow...Smoke likes Matrix 3...nice! Thought only I did...

Cloverfield
10-01-2007, 05:13 PM
Yeah, it's the best one.

Sawbucks
10-01-2007, 05:22 PM
Lol, it's the only one I haven't seen, too! I don't know why that is...

Cloverfield
10-01-2007, 05:23 PM
Becuase you're not jamaican.

gort
10-01-2007, 05:24 PM
I still like the 1st one best, but they all fit together nicely...like Kill Bill 1 and 2

Cloverfield
10-01-2007, 05:24 PM
Yeah...but Kill Bill 2 sucked.

Sawbucks
10-01-2007, 05:26 PM
Becuase you're not jamaican.

Ah, that would explain it! And there was me thinking that glasses of warm milk and a good night's sleep were the only things I would be missing out on...

gort
10-01-2007, 05:34 PM
Yeah...but Kill Bill 2 sucked.

NUH-UH!

Cloverfield
10-01-2007, 05:43 PM
YA-HUH Admit it, it was rubbish compared to the first 1.

Sawbucks
10-01-2007, 05:45 PM
Right, I'm gonna break up this childish fight and say that they were BOTH rubbish! (Actually, I haven't seen either of them, but that should put you young whipper-snappers in your place!)

gort
10-01-2007, 05:55 PM
Neener Neener....I win!! Oh wait...no I didn't...Rats!!

Ya know...it's actually one movie split in two....and I DO prefer the 1st part..and agree with you about the animated part...Good Stuff!!

Sawbucks: Gort commands you to watch Kill Bill......SOON!!

Sawbucks
10-01-2007, 05:58 PM
I will, I will. One of these days...

wwwwNAMEwwww
10-01-2007, 06:40 PM
the simpsons
back up copy of futurama
the princess bride
the goonies
man vs wild (cool show and good survival hints)

gort
10-01-2007, 07:07 PM
Doesn't count unless they're movies.....or I would have chosen Simpsons too...
give us a couple others...

* I haven't seen Goonies for freakin' YEARS!*

Gazereths
10-01-2007, 09:15 PM
Kill bill is freakin awesome.....vol2 is not as action oriented..but you get some cool background story.......especially how Ellie driver(?) lost her eye..i love that part. The guy with the long white beard kicks major ass..but even he cant defend against that most awesome of weapons...poisoned fish heads!!!

gort
10-01-2007, 09:30 PM
Plus...don't forget my favorite part...Carradines' speech about Superman and his secret identity...that is SO smartly written and is sadly over the heads of casual viewers who might benefit from the vast philosophical ramifications it lays out...

WHEW.

Gazereths
10-01-2007, 09:34 PM
yes i loved that part too...And it's so true! I never really thought about that before watching the film. He's different to all other super heroes...He really is superman...Clark Kent is his alter ego. That's his take on humans...Shows how pathetic he thinks we are.

gort
10-01-2007, 09:47 PM
Iagree....but Batman is still cooler IMO...

Better uniform...meaner...does all that damage without ANY super powers...rich...etc etc....might be a LITTLE too close to Robin though...hmmmm..

Gazereths
10-01-2007, 09:49 PM
Whats the same about batman and a scouser?

gort
10-01-2007, 10:08 PM
There you go again...what the hell is a scouser?? It sounds like some old guy you would hire to scouse something....

Gazereths
10-01-2007, 10:10 PM
Sorry!!! A scouser is someone from Liverpool....

They can't go out without Robbin

gort
10-01-2007, 10:18 PM
Oh....thanks for clearing that up....so Liverpool dudes aren't cool? Except for John Lennon?

Gazereths
10-01-2007, 10:20 PM
Well i dont know about that...But they do have a bad reputation for being TWOCers! Bet you dont know what that means either?

gort
10-01-2007, 10:27 PM
Probably twice what the other one was??

Menage a Trois?

Too saucy of a guess?

Gazereths
10-01-2007, 10:31 PM
Taking Without Owners Consent.......Nicking cars!! Actually a term used by the Coppers!

gort
10-01-2007, 10:33 PM
Ah yes....I'm learning more english slang.....cool!

1B-DI
11-01-2007, 10:14 PM
Someday I'm going to go back to England and actually sort of fit in, because I'll know all the slang thanks to Gaz. But more to the topic:

Office Space
Amelie
The 40-Year-Old Virgin
Crash
Monty Python and the Holy Grail

Gazereths
12-01-2007, 03:26 AM
Pulp Fiction
Goodfellas
5th element
Me, Myself and Irene
Akira

rocky horror picture show
legally blonde

gort
12-01-2007, 09:09 AM
Yay Beady...Amelie! Gaz...Jim Carey? Really? Okay mate!! ( I actually like the part with the cow shooting...one of the funniest things I've EVER seen!! )....

Hey 1BDi...have you ever seen 'City Of Lost Children'? It's by the same director as Amelie, but it's very odd! I love it!

frys_red_jacket
12-01-2007, 09:27 AM
i actually like jim carrey, he's the funniest actor ever

gort
12-01-2007, 09:33 AM
As Gaz would say...each to his own! He's just not my fave, but I think his acting style is funnier to younger folks....on the other hand...he was BRILLIANT in " The Eternal Sunshine of The Spotless Mind". He does an okay job in that...one of my favorite films......do you know we are the only two on this site right now? What up wit dat?

frys_red_jacket
12-01-2007, 09:38 AM
yeah i noticed that, earlier on it was just me i felt like a right loner, wonder where everyone is

1B-DI
12-01-2007, 02:14 PM
I'm a fan of Jim Carrey too, I used to watch "Ace Ventura" all the time! And no, I've never seen "City of Lost Children," but I bet it's good! I'll keep an eye out next time I'm at Blockbuster. There's another Audrey Tautou movie I love, called "He Loves Me/He Loves Me Not," it's soooo weird and creepy. :D

frys_red_jacket
12-01-2007, 02:21 PM
i love ace ventura but my fav film of his has to be liar liar, he's hilarious in that movie

gort
12-01-2007, 02:22 PM
Well, City of Lost Children is weird and creepy too...kind of an adult fairy tale that's kind of hard to figure out...if you don't like it, don't blame me!!! I love it, though and I bet you will too!

jle1993

18, so don't go snitching on me

Cloverfield
12-01-2007, 03:50 PM
Hmm, may have to watch that then. What is it 18 for? Horror, violence, language?

jle1993
12-01-2007, 03:52 PM
Horror mainly, it can be sickening yet funny. Like in one wish, a guy says 'I wanna walk straight through them bars'
And he does, literally

gort
12-01-2007, 03:52 PM
Is it as bad ( or good ) as Hellraiser?

Never seen Hellraiser so i don't know, but I know the wishmaster films are great, I love the wishs....

Cloverfield
12-01-2007, 03:56 PM
