Did we ever hear what the J> in Philip J Frys' name satnds for? Do we suppose it's Jay, like Homer?

All I know is that the "J" seems to be a running joke with Matt Groening, several of his characters have that particular initial.

Or, here's an explanation from Wikipedia:
Several of his characters have the middle initial 'J', including Bartholomew J. Simpson, Homer J. Simpson, Abraham J. Simpson, Chester J. Lampwick, Phillip J. Fry, and Hubert J. Farnsworth. Groening has said that this is a reference to Bullwinkle J. Moose.

:D

Oh, here's more Wiki-goodness....as it turns out, Rocky the Squirrel's middle initial is J as well, and I found a little more insight on Groening's choice of that letter too:

The middle initials of The Simpsons characters...as well as those of Futurama characters...are a tribute by Matt Groening to Jay Ward and Rocky and Bullwinkle.

So hopefully that helps too. Yes, I am a Wiki-nerd.

Okay then!!! I think I recall reading that somewhere now...it being a tribute to Jay Ward...again, GREAT work WIKI- QUEEN...

( you do realise that anybody can change the facts on that site to be wrong with a quick edit, right? I still use it too though )

Oh yeah, there have been a couple times I've found incorrect info on there...and again, I'm the white and nerdy type who edits it...but I also know to cross-reference and double check. 'Cuz that's how I roll. LOL!

I was a fan of the first Star Trek when it was on....I was 10 years old....not a huge fan now, though.

Yea, but back then Star Trek was cutting edge sci-fi....nothing else on tv like it. Made it pretty easy for a 10 year old boy to dig it!!
Of course, when I was even younger, we had Twilight Zone and Outer Limits....
you have TONS of other stuff cooler than Star Trek to choose from now!!

Lucky kid!! ( and pretty smart for your age, I think! )

yeah, thx. Nobody really likes that type of thing now. To be fair, we haven't the choice. We either fit into the stereotype or are ridiculed.......

Which is unlucky for those who don't fit in :D

I think you can have a variety of interests and still be cool...it's a neat trick, but it's possible. Knowledge is one of the keys....Gort knows...listen to Gort!
