Is anyone a fan of Matts' early comic strips before he got famous with Simpsons and Futurama? Jeff and Akbar is one and Binky is another ( from the Life in Hell series of cartoons ).....they're great, but more adult oriented... thoughts??

I don't mind his earlier work, but it is a little crude (the artwork) compared to his new stuff, obviously. But it is still great!

Long time ago....yes!

But, Life In Hell was drawn perfectly for what it was.....!

Oh, hell yeah! It's funny looking back on how an artist began his time as a cartoon developer, and see how far his drawing, and storylines progress.

Or....watch them get worse....Hank Ketchams' Dennis the Menace, for example...started as a one panel little gem, then got stretched into a longer format, taken over by other artists......

I'm on a rant again....don't get me started on Popeye....*shudders*

CartoonMan

Hehe, don't worry, I shan't get you started.

I hope so. We'll just have to wait and see. We need to advertise it a bit more. Any ideas?

Well....the biggest, and oldest Comic Book convention is held in San Diego in August....if we printed up flyers or business cards, I bet you could get at least 100-300 new members......I would have to figure out a way to hand them out though....it lasts for 3 days, 24 hours a day, so by hand is out. Any thoughts?

I could get you the organizers info if you want....

I don't live in san dieago. But if you could make a poster or something and stick somewhere where a lot of people would be awesome but August is a LONG time away. Anything happening soon?

gort
11-02-2007, 02:44 PM
Don't know, I don't really follow that sort of thing anymore....

And I know you don't live in San Diego, by the way. lol

( we have lots of comic book stores around here though....but I have no desire to drive hundreds of miles ( money wise ) to contact the owners...would take weeks )

Cloverfield

Yeah, perhaps email em???

gort

It may help in your quest, to mention that the forum is much more than just Futurama....we have lots of Simpsons info, animation info, classic sci-fi film info and loads of interesting links to boot.....perhaps emphasize the vast melting pot style we have become.....
