the whole joke started because there is a town of Springfield in almost every US state. So i love when they mess with time by showing them only drive for one day to get to some famous places like NYC. and then the comments of what states border springfield is hilarious. i'm glad they decided to not make it a real state so that everyone can feel like the springfield they are in is the one in their own state.

it is just a cartoon u know :P for all u know there was a "time lapse" on the way there or maybe it was an entire seperate episode of the simpsons or better yet maybe they just skipped out the dull parts of their life like movies do :D

lol nah they specifically mention in the episode that they go there for the day. besides like we said before they aren't actually in any state, which is why it's fun when they say things like that on where they travel to.
