I don't think anyone knows for sure. There are a lot of rumours about a new season, but that's all they are: rumours.

Neither FOX, The Curiosity Company or anyone from the Futurama team has given out any official statement.

So, we can only hope.

As RarelyEvil said, there are stong rumors of a 6th season due to the DVD's being such a success but right now it is just wishful thinking. Who knows if they will make another one but if they do, they will make a lot of people happy :)

i was curious and i spent all day watching the commintarys for all the movies and I found some things that might mean more futurama like
David said the number 9 man was in futuramas final moments and then he shortly said after that POSSIBLY the final moments but david said it was his last commentary but I hope they at least say if its cancelled or not because its doing my head in.

i don't think it's done for at all. yes, the ending of ITWGY looks like a big goodbye forever, but they're not nearly drained creativetly (sue me for spelling errors) and the dvd sales are pretty high as far as i know. so, unless fox's administrators are crap eating chimps, i think futurama will live on!

at least i prefer hope to despair...

Hopefully they do what they did with Family Guy, FG with cancelled but DVD sales and episode repeats ratings were high, so which lead to FG coming back, So I hope they do same, since there is alot of new viewers now..

The store I work at (target) rarely ever sells out of dvds.. unless its a surprise hit, today I worked for the first time since monday (with the movie being released tuesday, I had no real way of seeing how many copies we had sold) so much to my pleasant surprise when I went to pick up my copy on break, we had three copies left! And when I checked how many we had, I was told we had four boxes (which is roughly about 60-75 copies! So I think ITWGY is selling well at least. :)

Comedy Central are the jerks that first canelled MST3K. Hopefully there have been some changes since then, but I'm still mad at them for that.

After all, isn't Matt Greoning partially responsible for the success of FOX giving them The Simpsons? They should at least renew Futurama seeing as how it's (slightly) better and more clever than The Simpsons.

Well I've been watching The Simpsons since they were on Tracey Ullman, so for me to say that Futurama is slightly better is a huge compliment coming from me. It's hard to beat The Simpsons when they were in their heydey though. Now...well not so hard. lol
