View Full Version : Issue with consistency

Ok, so here's my beef. When they run out of gas Fry finds a ball in the litter box and puts it in the empty gas tank. The needle moves from e to about 1/8th of a tank or so. Then they go fill up and the charge for gas is 9.99 a ball, they pay something like 634 which would be about 64 balls for a full tank. Dosen't add up!

Not to mention, Fry shouldn't even be able to pick the thing up anyway (as seen in The Why of Fry).

Those are the little things the writers rarely go into detail with...
And remember also when Bender took several balls with a small spade like they weighed as much as golf balls but in "Love's Labours Lost in Space" Bender could barely lift just 1.
I wish they would notice errors like these...

Maybe he'd eaten less that day, so his poop wasn't so full :P

Sharktopus

Yeah, some days it's "lite" fuel, like if he hasn't had enough ham or something.

Yeah, he doesn't eat enough ham

There is indeed a serious level of inconsistency in regards to dark matter and Nibbler's poo.

Maybe it is heavier on some days then others? Maybe the ship's engines are moody and need more fuel on some days than others? Maybe it depends on the length of the journey and the speed the ship is travelling at, which is true for most cars. Or maybe Fry and Bender really are that out of shape, and it only gwets worse with time? lol

If "it's a cartoon" was an excuse for Futurama, there wouldn't be a Cubert's Rants section at the madhouse, so start analyzing! lol

cartoons do this all the time. Idon't mind though.

I bet you'll make a thread soon questioning the basic plot of the show.

Honestly I don't loose sleep over little things like this! We're fans of a show set a thousand years in the future where mutants and aliens are a reality after all!

Gold Bender really did put a lot of thought into this issue, so it's sad that s/he didn't come back to at least discuss it! lol

I admit that while I'd noticed the difference in the weight of the dark matter balls depending upon the situation the writers were setting up at the time, I'd never put thought into how many dark matter balls it would take to fill up a tank...

I notice things like this in the simpsons alot.

maybe it was part of the humour? adding so many balls that filled the tank?

emily0410

I've never really paid much attention to things like that, besides its a cartoon they don't always make sense

KING ZOIDY
14-01-2010, 01:40 AM
kinda like the inside joke that the writers had in "Kif Gets Knocked Up a Knotch" where kif said something like "It only took 2 million lines of BASIC" which i have not to this day gotten

Robot's_Best_Friend
14-01-2010, 01:40 AM
Yeah, I never got that either...lol

Cloverfield

Sure it's inconsistent but it's a cartoon, you're not supposed to pay that much attention to detail. Nothing has to make sense really. It doesn't bother me :)

Gazereths
02-06-2010, 02:09 AM
You have to suspend your disbelief lol

Benders percentage of elements come to more then 100% for example. But I'm sure the creators know all this! They do it to make us talk about it! lol
