All the pictures were posted on the Daily News site (a newspaper here in NY) here's the link: Hubbles most amazing images from 2008 (http://www.nydailynews.com/news/galleries/hubbles_most_amazing_images_in_2008/hubbles_most_amazing_images_in_2008.html#ph0)
what always amazes me is they are all REAL pictures, not drawings or artist renderings or anything like that. nothing prettier

Those pics are freakin' awesome!
Too bad I'll never get to go to space, even if it does happen in my lifetime. I nearly get a panic attack when I go on an airplane so I think space travel is out of the question. I don't want to burn up on re-entry, thank you very much.
I guess I'll have to be content looking at all those pretty pictures. :)

i'm not sure what obama is planning on making, but i heard that now the decision is to either go back to the moon and work on a living station there or head straight to mars
as much as i would love to have people walking on mars in my lifetime, i think the space station on the moon would be more beneficial in the long run.

some people out there in the world think all because a country has a lot of gold, everyone who lives there must be better off than them, them selfs who assume that the grass must be greener on the other side, and in some respects, it might be, but, countries also use that gold for space travel.
Half the stuff up in space is golden or lined with gold or shielded with gold or something, and everything... Everything in space is exspensive.
I could have retired on a tool kit that drifted away, forever (or to burn up in the atmosphere).

the entire star is a giant diamond. that's what the article is about. i'd prefer a planet over a star as well, just going as a joke since most people want to own diamonds.
plus, it also makes me think of the giant diamond from futurama that mars was purchased for

Daddy Warbucks
05-11-2010, 09:26 PM
You could figure what comes out of a black hole.
Prophet
05-11-2010, 09:29 PM
you could also figure outif there is a way to enter and exit them safely (even though from what i understand it sounds impossible but again it in theory) I mean wouldnt you want to be the first person or atleast see video of someone going through a black/white hole and if we could do that then maybe we could make advances in space travel aswell allowing us to exoplore planets outside of the milky way galaxy
Daddy Warbucks
05-11-2010, 09:31 PM
True.

Prophet
05-11-2010, 09:36 PM
lol brown holes just sound dirty... i say we make ablack hole machine and TERRORIZE THE UNIVERSE!..while trying not to get sucked in...also i though nothing came out of a black hole as everything is just compressed to nothingness upon entering a black hole
Daddy Warbucks
05-11-2010, 09:39 PM
Theoretically yes, but maybe not.

If you put Saturn in water it would float
We are moving through space at the rate of 530km a second
The moon is drifting away from Earth
The light hitting the earth right now is 30 thousand years old
The Sun loses up to a billion kilograms a second due to solar winds
The Big Dipper is not a constellation, it is an asterism
Earth has at least 4 moons
If two pieces of metal touch in space, they become permanently stuck together

okay, but, this is going to sound dumb...
What if, something travels faster than the speed of light, which is currently, the ceiling of speed.
What if something traveled faster than the speed of light, and therefore, escaped light.
So it remained black.
And what if Space is that black, that speed that is faster than light?
And it could be dragging the photonic 'photo, it means light, look up latin people' photonic particles (light basicaly) across behind it, as this Black 'the Vacuum' travels... Faster than light?
I don't know... They say space is curved too, so, I dunno.
I had Rich Hall's voice in my head as I typed that.

How?
Why!?
Maybe that's a clue on what shape the universe is... A big ball.
^and yes JetGirl, *More water was dicovered on Mars and it was announced on the News.
I however; have always beliefed the theories of water frozen on Mars, so the fact that it's melting coupled with, let's face it; '2012', has me looking out for Planet X j/k... But, I'm only surprised that it's melted, and enough has been gathered to observe it with our technology.

the only way i can see us getting to mars...is to first focus on making the moon our point of origin.
as it would take far to long to build, stock, and shoot a space craft into earth orbit to sling shot to mars.
it'd make alot more sence to shoot from the moon....and befroe we focus on mars we gotta perfect living in space, and the moon would be a great stepping stone.
EdgeCrusher
06-08-2011, 07:00 PM
what i read about it basically said that the ship required for that would be be too large to actually take off from earth. it would have to be put together in space. then the mission would take about 3 and a half years time and we would lose contact with them as they orbited the sun.

Space... On Earth....
If I had an upside down bicycle and spun the front wheel here on earth, what is stopping it for spinning forever?
What is the force that is taking it's energy given to it by the inital push of the wheel, friction from the axel? Or;
Is it our atmosphere, our oxygen and what not; 'As the wheel cuts through the air, the air is pushing back on the wheel maybe?, Is that why sooner or later if spun, the wheel will stop spinning?..
If I was to somehow try and spin my bicycle wheel in outter space, would it spin forever?
Would it be tricky to spin the bicyle wheel in outter space with out seninding the entire bike spinning away from the first try?
Space... It facinates me.
