If we made T-Shirts would you Buy Them?
You should make this forum more popular. Like 1500 members. Itll take some time but still. If ya pay the post bill then.

Cloverfield
16-11-2006, 11:15 PM
In this thread http://bugnation.myfreeforum.org/sutra50385.php#50385 someone reckons we should be making money from this site
Myfreeforums supply you with a hosted version of phpBB. phpBB is a free open source forum script which you can download and use very easily (www.phpbb.com). Then you need a host, if you use a voucher (just search google for "dreamhost $97 voucher") you can get a years hosting with dreamhost for $25 (about 13quid). So, you've got your forum and you've got it hosted. Now you need to cash in on it You've got a nice niche so you've got a potential to make a fair bit of money, you've already got a visitor base (which you need to constantly work to increase) so you can put your adverts on there. How many you place will depend on how agressively you want to make money (I use them unobstrusively because I just want to cover my hosting costs but you'll be wanting money out of this). Sign up for google adsense and install your adverts. Then slowly but surely you'll start making money. You'll be able to customize phpbb and make it look nice and pwetty
I said it sounds complicated and he said
Depends on so so much so its really difficult for me to say. Your looking at one day of difficulty (setting up the host, forum and adsense) and the rest of it is just using the forum like you do now, only money goes in your pocket not theirs. I'm not going to say it'll be great ammount because it won't be until you get your member count up. But then again, if you don't don't do anything to the forum for a week you still make money, so you can take time off whenever
Could be very interesting Gurman. Think you help me sort this out sometime?

I like the seymor and professor ones. but they are a bit plain. you know the bender fry and leela logo like the one at http://www.doheth.co.uk/toons/wallpaper/futurama-logo-1024.png ? i think we could that logo near the futuramaff. com or so. its just a suggestion. anyways i am still searching for his e-mail. though i do like the slurm shirt the most i think id buy it if i get the money.
TK-421
03-12-2007, 06:33 PM
Yeah, I like the Bender/Fry/Leela one. Gurman, the ones you designed - good work, but they are a bit plain. Also, downplaying the advertising wouldn't be a bad idea (I'm thinking about the Nixon one here). Just have it on the back, it looks better.
Sorry, it's not to bash you or anything, I appreciate the effort. I just doubt I'd be buying one. I'll see if I can't come up with something on my end to show you what I'd like to see on a T-Shirt.
TK-421
07-12-2007, 06:24 PM
Okay, I finally finished the t-shirt I was working on - that stuff takes a lot of time! So much for my afternoon..
Front:
http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f106/TK-41/DeathtoHumanst-shirt.jpg
(or click here (http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f106/TK-41/DeathtoHumanst-shirt.jpg))

(or here (http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f106/TK-41/DeathtoHumanst-shirtback.jpg))
That is how I'd like an FFF t-shirt to look, that one I'd buy. Of course, it doesn't look nearly as good as the ones Gurman did, but I hope you get the gist of it
Again, I'm not saying this is the way it should be done. It's just my opinion.
1B-DI
07-12-2007, 06:31 PM
Haha, great design! I'd buy that.
Cloverfield
07-12-2007, 06:32 PM

Or
FUTURAMA
___FF.
__com
Something like that (minus the underscores lol)
TK-421
07-12-2007, 07:13 PM
Yeah, I realise that - the idea was that it's FUTURAMA Fan Forum.COM, which, once abbreviated, would be FUTURAMAFF.COM! I suppose it's a bit unclear (and also, the .com appears to be lowercase).
I actually nicked the idea off the commentary for Fear of a Bot Planet. Apparently, the writers did t-shirts like this when the show was originally on. So, nothing new here, I just really liked the idea..
FryWalker
07-12-2007, 08:29 PM

TK-421
07-12-2007, 08:39 PM

Second one for me too
TK-421
10-12-2007, 04:49 PM
It's a bit odd that you both prefer the second one, actually. It was really just an afterthought, I had intended it to be on the back of the first design, which I prefer. The obscure in-jokes that very few people find funny have always appealed to me..
Anyway, those designs are really just what I think should be on a t-shirt. I didn't mean to steal the idea from you, Gurman - I really like some of the designs you did. However, if I were to buy some, I'd like one in the same vein as the designs I did.
(I'd buy your Slurm t-shirt, though!)
Cloverfield
10-12-2007, 07:37 PM
How much do you reckon the hypnotoad one would be to buy ?
TK-421
10-12-2007, 07:46 PM
I've no idea. I've always wanted to get my own print on t-shirts (obscure quotes and whatnot) but I never looked into it. I imagine it'd be quite expensive, though. The picture of the Hypno-Toad is pretty big, and, of course, in colour. Naturally, if you got some more people to buy it you could get them cheaper.
Cloverfield
10-12-2007, 08:23 PM
Yeah well I have no idea who would buy these t shirts. Won't be me for a while due to the vbulletin thing.

Yeah well I have no idea who would buy these t shirts. Won't be me for a while due to the vbulletin thing.
Well, plenty of members voted they'd buy some t-shirts, depending on the design. I'd like a few. No worries there, I imagine people would still be willing to buy some! I think it'd be a good idea to wait a while though, and air some more designs.

Nah, famous people don't leave their addresses lying about.. unfortunately.
You could ask around the various fan forums for his address, though. According to the series' commentary, the creators regularly check out fan sites and stuff - could be he'll see it! Fat chance, but it's worth a try, right?

As I remember, Matt Groening holds the creative rights to the show while FOX has the right to produce new episodes/films and whatnot. So what we really need is to get in touch with him.
We could contact FOX, though. There was an address on the Bender's Big Score DVD - on the first page of the script. Someone could drop them a letter there and ask..
