I just read earlier today that one of my all-time favourite comic book writers/artist has retired! Oh noes! Apparently he didn't get paid enough, and he's had eye surgery, and everyone steals his work without even letting him know. Still, this just sucks!

I remember growing up reading his stories. The Donald Duck Magazine is huge over here, everyone grew up reading it. I spent years in musty old second-hand stores trying to find every last of his stories; it never occurred to me to just get them online. Anyway, I've got an almost complete collection now - I still haven't read his latest story, another entry in his award-winning Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck series.

His stories always mixed fact with fiction, and I've learnt a hell of a lot about so many subjects reading them. They are the utmost of adventure fiction, something along the lines of Indiana Jones - same as both George Lucas and Steven Spielberg, Rosa was inspired by the adventures legendary duckman Carl Barks penned. His drawing style and attention to detail is amazing. God, I'm depressed he quit.

Anyways, if you've never read any of his work (for some reason he's not particularly popular in the States), get The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck. Masterpiece.
