Basically the same as its counterpart in the film section, just thought I needed somewhere to announce that I just finished Animal Farm. Again. Orwell is a genius, the final chapter is especially well-written and satirical.

I just started a new school, I've had loads of homework. I popped on every once in a while, I know I've written at least.. two posts this week :P
I'll try and get on more though, should be here more often once I get a laptop. Anything change while I was away?
oh, and just to preserve the facade that we can actually stay on topic for more than a few posts - how did you like Treasure Island? I've got it, just didn't get around to reading it yet. I think I'll stay Orwellian and read 1984 next.

Brave New World? I'll have to look that one up. 1984 is really interesting, I read the first few chapters today. Intriguing! I'll probably read the rest this weekend, I'm off sailing which usually means curling up on the deck with a good book ;)

I think I've heard of it. Bells ringing. Anyways, it'll probably have to wait a while - I don't get around to reading a lot, what with homework and life and stuff, and I've got a fairly large stack of books to be read already.. I'll add it to the list though ;)

I just finished reading 'Artemis Fowl: The Time Paradox'. Pretty good read; good humor, some twists and intelligent writing, but still doesn't beat the first couple books in the series. I was satisfied. =]

I finished 1984 yesterday - excellent book, very interesting, and Orwell does bring up some good points about society. Overall he was probably a tad pessimistic, but that doesn't detract from the narrative at all.
I started reading Alan Moore's Complete WILDC.A.T.S. as well. It definitely isn't as impressive as his earlier work, but quite good nonetheless.

no i had read the first one when i was about 11 and really didn't understand the story as a whole. so i never read any others. recently more and more people had been talking about the book so i dug it out of the bookshelf and re-read it and i'm really glad i did. it's alot easier to understand now that i'm older lol
i may read the others but i've heard they aren't as good. i'm interested in getting that new comic that just came out on the series.
I read the The Road again. The movie is supposed to be out this fall, don't know if any of you are fans of Cormac McCarthy, but the book is an amazing one. Great story of Father-Son survival in a post apocalyptic setting.

The others are actually much better and really expand on the story from the first! The 2nd, 3rd and 4th especially. The new comic's really good too, the first one's basically just the 4th book but they're releasing the 2nd round of them and they're totally new stories.

I just finished reading Fight Club - excellent book, I love the disjointed narrative style. Palahniuk makes some very interesting observations and raises a lot of valid points concerning contemporary society. The ending was a tad on the weak side though, a bit too vague without providing the proper closure I'd hoped for. To be honest, I felt the film did a better job on that note. Still, the rest of the storyline is really good, and once again - the narrative style is brilliant, fractured, hurried and yet it brings all the loose threads together. I'll have to keep an eye out for some of his other novels.
