I was just thinking that with the Russian-Georgian conflict, and Russia's clamp down on freedoms, it looks like the Russian Bear is back. I just wanted to know if anyone else thought that we might be entering another Cold War.

I think it could be on it's way back. The quote that Russia would 'nuke Poland' is a worry. I'm not sure if that was a tounge in cheek quote but I can't see that given the seriousness of the Russians I know.

A funny comment I read in a (questionable) newspaper today was that David Cameron (Conservative Party Leader in UK) has called for the Russian billionaires in the UK to be barred from shopping here. Wooooo scary stuff, that's gonna hit them hard.

Where will they spend there millions? I also remember reading in the USA Today sometime ago that Moscow actually has more millionaires than NYC.

Sadly yes, i do believe the cold war is heating up again. With everything that has been going on recently with georgia and russia. And now russia saying they will nuke poland if america builds the sheild thing in poland. Then yes i do believe its all breaking out again.

Speaking of Cuba, i cant remember for sure where i read/heard this but i saw something that Russia may resume giving aid and such to Cuba, and with all those petro dollars, i'm sure they can. I just hope we just dont get another Cuban missile crisis.

That wouldnt surprise me, maybe russia would want warheads there again.

vonhammer
19-08-2008, 01:30 PM
Wouldn't surprise me either. And also who do you think is really in charge in Russia, Putin or Medeve, that new guy who was elected.

On another note, If they did put missles back in Cuba, Lets hope that the person in charge isn't like Zapp Brannigan.

Well i still putin is in charge of russia, he does have a unnormal control over it still.

vonhammer
19-08-2008, 01:40 PM
Yea he does. Lets not forget that also he was part of the KGB, and was the head of it at one time.

Yep i also know about all of that. Its about time russia decide if they want to form whats lift of a relationship with the west, or if they want to be alone and isolated in the world.

Ok, i think that if USA brings his tanks and stuff and starts figthing russia oh men russi will go insane and starts bomming or does something crazy, in my opinion.

Yeh iam worried about america doing something stupid like attacking russia and then it all kicks off. Aslong as finland stays out of it, and dosnt get attacked or something in a nuke war then im not worried for my life.

NightWolf
19-08-2008, 01:51 PM
Well im a worried about that that Russia attaced Georgia because somekind of their people stuff and stuff. And Estonia has a lot of Russian people and it could make it a crappy place to be.

FryRulz
19-08-2008, 01:52 PM
Yeh that is a worry, well hopefully something can be sorted out. Cos russia needs to relise they cant do this in the 21st centuary.

In hockey we have already cancelled 2 pre season friendlys with some russian teams.

Yeah really its 21. century c'mon, war. Like wtf? And also russia is so dang dig and has freakin big military.

FryRulz
19-08-2008, 01:57 PM

NightWolf
19-08-2008, 01:59 PM
Well yeah..
But i think when USA and Russia start to fight then nukes are going to fly. And god damn Moskva is near to Estonia.

vonhammer

As an American, in my opinion we really dont have the resources right now because of Afghanistan and Iraq. I'm not a defense expert, but i think that at most we can probably send a carrier group, and maybe a few subs. That's just my opinion. But i dont think we will do anything like that, since here we are in the middle of the election season, and the current administration will probably leave it for the next president.

Well i hope that both countrys no matter what are smart enough not to use nukes, as now we know the damages they cause to the world.

All I can say, "I bloody hope not!" Terrifying time in history for the whole world. Jesus, I hope we don't all end up in a MAD situation again (as in, Mutually Assured Destruction, nuclear-wise).
