Well in year 7 (11-12 years old) i was at 6th form (college) reading level...But that was a long long time ago! I remember getting a certificate for it.

I was way ahead of my class early on as well, I remember reading The Jungle Book in probably the second grade, when everyone else read those short little books with mainly pictures in them. I was actually told to stop reading The Hobbit in the fourth grade and concentrate on the stack of abridged easy reading they'd gotten out for us. It was a crappy school.

when i was in school i was very advanced as well, i started reading stephen king novels at about 9 or 10. but i was also a slacker so from 5th grade until 7th grade i was actually in the lowest reading class because i wanted to get A's, :P and not have to work hard. they finally caught on and bumped me up in 7th grade to the senior class reading level. in high school i was in all college classes for english.

best reading class i ever had was in college, it was called sci/fi and fantasy

We usually got extremely dull books, half of them completely pointless and the other half too old and too bland. We get fairly good short stories every once in a while though.

The school's I went to never had an alternative to easy reading in the early grades, so I never got anything harder to read there. And some of the teachers we had.. God! Our English teacher had such a horrible accent it was hard to actually discern any of the words she said. Oh, and another one of our teachers thought there were only three continents! That school just keeps getting worse the more I think about it :P

Wow, that is bad. I think that maybe even Fry could be a teacher there ;)

As for me, I've always been a good reader. I started getting serious when i started high school. I mostly read books from authors like Tom Clancy, W.E.B. Griffin and the like.

i scored a 98% in my college reading test. i was always good at it; in kindergarten, i was reading at a 3rd grade (8-9 years old) level.
