Do we need a new banner?

Does this forum need a new banner? Sure this one is cool, but I think it is really lacking in height and when I saw this site Futurama-Area.de (http://www.futurama-area.de/index.php) ... well...that banner rocks, especially the way the tubes come out of the banner and still carry on the template.

Anyway, if we did get a new banner, I think it should be animated, like the one in the link.

I quite like the banner we have, but the sides of the forum are a bit dull, maybe have something going down the sides?

It would be cool if there were cans of slurm on each side of the banner pouring down the sides of the forum, but maybe that's to hard.

You don't necessarily need an animated banner, you could, but if it's done right and isn't tacky looking. Or you could just go with a still banner. Doesn't matter really, but to the question, it could go for an update.

i like the banner we have but an animated banner certainly sounds interesting, i also have to agree with the gaz about the sides of the forum looking a bit dull, maybe that could also be brightened up with something??

Sorry to double post but I just thought of a good idea. We have a banner rotator so we can have a character on each different banner so when you refresh it will be a different character each time. Thoughts?

EDIT: just thought of an idea. The background is space and then after a second the PES flys in from the left, with a banner attached to rthe back saying 'Futurama Fan Forum'. Comments?

The first idea you said is good. If you have a lot of different banners it would be fun to see a other one everytime you refresh the website.

The Rotating Image idea sounds much better. Seeing different characters on each one, the PES Flying in, would probably slow down some users, not much probably, as long as you have a decent connection. But some may still be affected.

I'm liking the rotating banner idea, especially if they're all the same except each one would be based around a different character.

I'm also thinking the forum could use a bit of a renovation, it's a bit bland IMO.

I think an animated banner would be good but it would need to be a flash banner, so it doesnt take time to load like a gif, for example on that site, its done on flash and it does not freeze and it loads instantly.

Well, it actually takes about 3-4 seconds but they have a cool percentage bar thing with a neat image to substitute for the waiting time. Shame I can't just copy that site lol

i'd probably go with a non-animation banner because it gets annoying vague.
i'd stick to a nice simple banner, but you might want to do it have the maybe the movies joined together in one banner.
