Well I just got off work and am watching the pilot. Since this is our first discussion I have no idea how to do this so I am going to make a bullet list of things I find interesting and worthy of discussion.

1. Monkey Fracas Jr. is it the worst looking game you've ever seen.
2. Michelle is a bitch.
3. Was the shadow of nibbler under the desk in the original broadcast or did they add it in on the dvds?
4. Whats up with the cartoon on the screen in each episode? I never understood that.
5. Does any one else expet the guy to say Welcome to the world of tomorrow, Today. I always am waiting for the today but it never comes.
6. who else thought the whole job chip thing was going to be a big part of upcoming episodes?
7. Fry mentions star trek but doesn't go to jail.
8. Fry and Leela connecting over being alone and the start of the romance of the century.
9. Anyone else notice how much bender and farnsworths voice have changed since the pilot.

fave lines

at least here you will be treated with dignity, now strip naked and get on the probulator

well i didn't have anything else planned for today lets go get drunk

you guys were totally out of control.
thats our job were peace officers

your full of crap fry, zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzttttttt you make a persuasive argument fry

fave sight gag
bender this calls for a drink (pulls out 3 beers and drinks them all himselfs)

least favorite part
when escaping from the head museum when bender is like im unstopable then his arms fall off, i feel the delay between his line and the arms falling off is too long (of course if thats the worst part this must be one hell of an episode)

my overall rating of the episode 9/10 a great way to start the series

yeah if it's in the wrong spot then the thread can be moved once the correct section has been made.

Meanwhile, Yes Michelle is a bitch, but hilarious at the same time. At least, until she got her own episode.
The nibbler shadow has been there since the first episode aired, only it never made any sense until later on. Or was barely noticed by fans until later on.
I always wondered where that cartoon was from that was shown on the TV screens at the beginning of each episode.
i also agree that the voices of bender and the professor finally came into their own as the series progressed.

I always thought they added it later on. Oh well, cool detail though!

By the way, the cartoon in the intro is called Little Buck Cheeser, from 1937. It can be viewed through this (http://youtube.com/watch?v=Vni2Mrt-Nuo) link.

I really liked the pilot, it introduced the characters and world of 3000 brilliantly. Although the writing is not quite as impressive as the later episodes, some of the gags feeling a bit stale compared to later episodes, but it's an intriguing beginning to a wonderful show.

Amy, Zoidberg and Hermes being left out was actually a pretty good move in my book. They're all interesting characters, but not really essential to the main story arc, and so delaying their introduction to the following episode kept the focus on the story at hand and the three main characters (plus the professor thrown in for plot purposes ;)).

1. Monkey Fracas Jr. is it the worst looking game you've ever seen.

Definitely, but I was actually kind of impressed with the graphics when the ship blew up at the end. The debris and whatnot seemed to burst out at random without the routine "pillars of fire"-thingy's you'd expect in a crappy old game like that.

5. Does any one else expet the guy to say Welcome to the world of tomorrow, Today. I always am waiting for the today but it never comes.

Well, no.. I kind of like that gag though, Terry is a pretty fun recurring character.

6. who else thought the whole job chip thing was going to be a big part of upcoming episodes?

I definitely thought so. It's actually referenced in The Cryonic Woman, when Fry doesn't remember anything about it. Fun gag lol
Also, I definitely thought the "although I am already in my pyjamas" line would be used more, but it only appears in the first two episodes.

7. Fry mentions star trek but doesn't go to jail.

Yeah, that's a pretty nice continuity errors. In view of them actually placing Nibbler's shadow under the desk it's pretty fun how they didn't catch such an obvious error. Ah well, they probably hadn't thought up the Star Trek episode yet.

yeah their other continuity error was how the original crew was killed. but it's just semantics really, bee's or wasps. same difference to me. they've got terrible stingers that'll hurt/kill you.
