You should! I've also read lots of the expanded universe ones. If anyone's interested, I recommend any of the ones by Timothy Zahn. They're very good. The first one he wrote is Heir to the Empire.

like them all except 1&2 they where to childish.. fu***** Jarjar... Yeah, Star Wars does not need any characters to laugh at, it's not meant to be funny, as that's what JarJar was there for. Grrr!!! lol But other than that, Star Wars ROCKS!!!

I've got them and read them! Have you read the Thrawn trilogy (Heir to the Empire, Dark Force Rising and The Last Command) by Timothy Zahn? Those are my favourite ones! And Timothy Zahn's other books as well - The Hand of Thrawn duology (Spectre of the Past and Vision of the Future) Survivor's Quest and Outbound Flight
What other Star Wars books have you read Relic?

I saw the first Star Wars movie with my wife ( at the time ) at the San Diego premiere...the line was sooooooo long....it took 3 hours to get in. Remember, this was before people were all fans of it. It was an awesome experience....we went back the next night!! One of my fave things is that I have a program that was handed out only at the first night premiere...probably not worth much, but it's cool....pictures from the movie, cast info...that sorta stuff. My favorite was Empire...the rest after that didn't get it for me...( ewoks...hah..henson puppets )...but the first two were awesome!!!

Empire is the best film ever imo.

I even liked the new ones. Phantom Menace was a bit rubbish but still had the spirit of trhe originals. I don't know why people didn't like attack of the clones or revenge of the sith, I thought they were great (apart from Hayden Christianson's wooden acting, I just don't like him).

I know this is a laugh but whoever wrote that so has to learn the facts, particially the Death Star not blowing up Yavin and Yavin 4.

I Hate Bottles
17-07-2009, 04:14 PM
I was always under the impression that they were using the Death Star (a.k.a. The Floating Ball of Hate) to destroy Yavin 4 where the Rebel base was located, because they said "The Death Star is now in firing range" right before Luke blew the bejesus out of it. I knew it took them about 30 minutes to get the Death Star in range which is how the Rebels were able to attack and blow up the damn thing.

I respect your knowledge of Star Wars far above my own DJ (and I'm pretty much the biggest Star Wars nerd I know) and you're the only one who could convince me that I was wrong about anything SW related.

I know there are some innacuracies with the article, and as you said before it's just for laughs, but at least the person who wrote it has a pretty good knowledge of the SW Trilogy anyway. I particulalry liked the part when he said the "Rebels could have at least turned the lights out and pretended no one was home." If only. lol

Your correct about the Death Star, although in universe terms here it was luck that the Death Star came out of hyperspace behind the gas giant Yavin and was forced to orbit it. The reason why the gas giant couldn't be destroyed as well was because the superlaser had a recharge time of one day so it wasn't practical.

The writer did have a fairly good understanding of the trilogy although most of the things are plot related like not shooting the escape pod with 3P0 and R2 in it but that's the plot.

Yeah that's what the rebels should have done all along, that was there mistake on Hoth :P

The Illusive Man
11-08-2009, 08:59 PM
That's where EU comes in, the DC-15 is a plasma weapon and therefore very hard to aim due to the kickback. The smaller handgun is much preferred.

I Hate Bottles
11-08-2009, 09:00 PM
There was a kickback? I thought the Empire was kicking ass financially.

The Illusive Man

I stole the definition of Steampunk from Dictionary.com because I didn't feel like typing it out..

Steampunk (n):
A genre of science fiction set in Victorian times when steam was the main source of machine power; also written steam-punk

So it's like modern technology in Victorian times. There are people steampunk their computers and electronics like electric guitars and laptops.

There's a whole series of Steampunk Star Wars now which is pretty interesting. Chewie looks funny though. lol

see i'm sorta torn about that, is it that much bigger then the Jedi version that i have?

plus, i also saw that they were coming out with a big chibi version, THAT'S one i'd totally shell out another $100 for

Its a monster, comes with a Speeder Bike and an AT-AT driver. I think the GH version is getting on the size of the old AT-AT.

I watched this movie with my friends. This is an interesting movie. I think this is a freedom fighter movie. This is my favourite movie. The line of the history of South-west, travel hero is about 90% of all movies fantasy style. If you look deeply into the story lines of most book or a movie, there are only a handful of stories that people can say. We just put another spin on the same adventure. While other films SW can be considered a recycling ANH, even if they are part of the line Anh general history.

I wouldn't say that the other 5 movies recycle the ideas of A New Hope, rather expand on them, particually the other two movies in the Original Trilogy.
