Two of my favorite movies of all time are Alien and Aliens.
First one Directed by legend Ridley Scott, filmed like a documentary albeit scary one, gave new meaning to what a horror movie should be awesome stuff. Did I mentioned it also had the greatest monster of all time!
Second one Directed by James Cameron, this movie was just rockin, violent as hell, scarry enough to put any Friday The Thirteenth movie to shame and full of great quotes like;
Hudson: Dear Lord Jesus, this can't be happenin' man, this isn't happenin'...
Ripley: Hudson! This little girl survived longer than that with no weapons and no training. Right?
Private Hudson: So why don't you put her in charge?
Hudson: Hey Vasquez, have you ever been mistaken for a man?
Vasquez: No, have you?
Hudson: Let's just bug out and call it even, OK?
Ripley: I say we take off and nuke the entire site from orbit. That's the only way to be sure.
Hudson: F-ckin' A...
Burke: Ho-ho-hold on one second. This installation has a substantial dollar value attached to it.
Ripley: They can *bill* me.
I can go on and on, movie goldness man, movie goldness .....

Oh and Blade Runner, we mustn't forget about this great piece of cinematic gold. Had the cooliest gun Deckards Blaster, great characters, Rutger Heuer any body, huh;
I've seen things you little people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion bright as magnesium. I rode on the back decks of a blinker and watched c-beams glitter in the dark near the Tanhauser Gate. All those moments... they'll be gone.
Just an all around treasure.

2001: Space Odyssey, directed by movie god Stanley Kubrick. To this date I'm still wowed by the technical achievement in special effects. I think movies today with all that CGI crap is loosing that reality flair the old stuff gave us. A must see for any science fiction buff.
I only like movies where the shoot a lot. Like Badboys2

Man On the Moon is a good movie. My favorite Jim Carrey is Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.
I just re-read this whole thread!!
Wow....you guys really took some time to list your collections!!
I wouldn't even know where to start!!
And I must say that it's cool of Gurman to have a Striesand concert AND Goodfellas!!
Nice!!
( I own NO Babs...)
Gurman169

I have to add some now i'll do it now
WAY too much free time!! LOL
Just kidding, man.....nice list!!
Wish I would have started a list when I first got into dvds....

I just did the list it took me 6 hours so I would keep track
Wow.....I have so many I've bought doubles a couple times...!
I'm a dork......
Why would you by double copies
Well.......I have thousands of dvds, some of which I haven't seen yet.....so when I go on a shopping binge, I forget I have the dvd already...and buy it again.
Only twice, though.....
frys_red_jacket
02-04-2007, 08:40 AM
since writing my list ive got 5 more dvds to add
rocky horror picture show
welcome to the dollhouse
the break up
simpsons greatest hits
high school musical
I HATED the breakup......which is weird, because I LOVE Jennifer Anniston....
Welcome to the Dollhouse?????
Classic!!!
The Break Up was good. And if you like Jennifer Aniston have you seen Derailed. That is sooo good.
Nope......but seriously.....the Breakup was one of the worst movies I've ever seen....
Not trying to argue....just my opinion......
The problem with it was the reality it portrayed. I am NO FAN of Vince Vaughn to begin with, and his character in the film was such a knob....the whole movie was a yelling match, with no humor. It was like watching a REAL breakup......and for me, that's not entertaining....having had several myself!!
Likw watching an arguement in a bar.....
Calum
08-04-2007, 01:01 PM
I have lots, too many to list :p
I just re-read this thread AGAIN........I have boticed that some folks claim to have dvds that were not released at the time of their post.....
(not Gurmmy)
Doesn't bother me, I guess.....just kinda funny!!
It would be easier for me to list the dvds I want......or rather...NEED!!!!
like i need the illusionist and the prestige and lost season 2. once i get to season 3 i can watch it on abc.com but i need to catch up.
My list of wants is vast, sorta.
I only need about 250 more to complete what I want.....not counting new releases......
When I get back to work, I'm sure that 250 will become 500......easy.
shouldnt it become less since more of your time will be working
Won't stop my collecting affliction.......$$$$$ is my only restaint.
Plus I don't do much of anything else anymore.
By choice.
Personal reasons.

i have basically some will ferrel, adam sandler, jim carrey, and ben stiller films. and TV seasons i own included a couple simpsons, family guy, south park, chapelle show, sex and the city, sports night (i doubt anyone remembers that one) and daria (the movie ones).
why i don't own futurama you might be asking. most of the TV seasons i own were all given as gifts. TV seasons are not cheap, so i wait until i get them. i watch them online anyways so and have a couple on disc so all i am really missing is extras.
Sports Night is arguably the best show that's ever been on tv.....I am a HUGE fan!!
And I have more dvds than Gurmmy.....but I'll never list them because there are too many!!

surprisely sports night was the reason why is started getting into sports center and watching sports which eventually led me to dating my current boyfriend. he bought my the season just recently, i've been asking for it for a long while.
every now and then i go on a massive dvd buying spree but i haven't had the time or the money to really. and i could see how you have many movies. lol you have bought doubles.
Yes......I am a dork sometimes!!! LOL
During my surgery recooperation, I had TONS of cash, and TONS of time.....that explains it I guess......
I remember one day.... I spent 900 dollars on dvds.....sigh....good ol' days....

22-05-2007, 01:22 PM
OMG.
NINE HUNDRED dollars??!!!! Good lord!!
Yeah, well.....I had lots to catch up on.....that day I got all the seasons of Twilight Zone....the complete Dick Van Dyke show....a few movie collection box sets...like Doris Day, Erroll Flynn, Katherine Hepburn, Bette Davis, etc.
Plus lots of animation type stuff.......ah...memories!!
(I'm counting lunch and drinks and a couple or three books and a few cds....)
Yes.
I'm insane.

22-05-2007, 02:39 PM
Man, if that was all at the same store they must have loved you...
They know me by name at Borders.....even after months go by!!!
You should see my wish list at Amazon......I should e-mail it to you....
And yes...I know Borders is expensive, but I would special order stuff Best Buy didn't have before I got a lap top.....

i amazon and overstock most of my dvd's..but who really has time to watch all your dvd's? i am just a small blockbuster for my friends really.
recently a friend gave me back the movies he borrowed and he gave me another garden state..which meant he lost the one he did borrow..but i didn't know which one he took :P i should start a list
That's so sad!!
Well, if you can't recall which one you're missing, it must not have been a favorite!!
I NEVER loan dvds.....although I would sometimes buy or burn a movie for a friend.
seiryu
31-05-2007, 11:50 AM

We have tonnes of movies... as in 6 bookshelves full, and more on top of those... We ran out of space!
Sounds like me!! All the shelves are full, and there are hundreds in stacks on the floor.
I miss buying DVDS, but until I get the doctors out of the way and go back to some kind of work.......any $$$$$ I get goes to stupid stuff like food and rent.

OH MY GOD!
I SO WANT THAT SET!!!!!! :w00t:
Is it worth it? ;)
Sorry, somehow I completely missed that post. I must, shamefacedly, admit that I still haven't gotten around to actually watching it yet. I've seen all sorts of other stuff, just didn't get into M*A*S*H yet. If you like the series I suggest you get it though, it looks fantastic. You might want to grab a separate copy of the movie though, if you're into extras - this is the single-disc edition.
Anyway, the other day I found a website to catalogue my DVD collection, and this morning I decided to do it. 7½ hours later, I'm through. God, I have a lot of DVDs! The app says 647, plus the ones that weren't in the database. I'm guessing around 660-670 - and that's not counting the individual films, loads of those are box sets. Hot crap!
Here's a link. (http://www.dvdspot.com/frontpage.php?member=zutton)
