So, the Republicans are on their way to selecting their nominee for the election this year.

Does anyone have any opinions on this? There's been a reasonable amount of coverage on it here, for those who wish to follow it, and to be honest if I were an American I wouldn't want to vote for Obama, nor any of the prospective Republican candidates.
American politics seems to be even more filled with fake emotions and single-issue politicians than our own system.

While I don't think that a single person, even the president, can hope to re-make an entire system in just a few years I am a bit suprised at how Obama has screwed over his voters and done even less to change American politics than even I expected. And for those reason I wouldn't want to vote for Obama but then again most of the Republican candiates don't make much an impression on me and I don't know enough about them to cast a vote either ways - but if I would make a blind guess I think I'd go with Romney but I do think that I'd live to regret it.

So what has Obama done exactly? I'm sorry I'm not American so I don't know exactly how the US goverment has "evolved" since Obama's inacuration... can anyone enlighten me?

yeah, so gay he has a beautiful wife and two kids.

idiot.

obama ended the war in iraq gave us universal health care, and people bitch about it nothings perfect atleast we have something. and with all the negativity towards him he's kept a cool head. what 99% of american don't understand is that most of what a president put into the works doesn't take into effect until years after they're gone. sure y'all can bitch about how horrible a president obama is...but shit could you do better after eight years of bush? i think not.

also, unless you vote, you cannot talk shit. no if's and's or but's about it. period end of discussion.

Sorry but I just couldn't stay away even though I probably should have.

No one said that he didn't do anything good but that alot of stuff weren't all that good. Unless I'm terribly misinformed the Patrioc Act still stands, the American government can assassinate American citizens at will, Guantanamo (or however you spell it) is still open last time I checked etc.

Well if most things don't come out untill years after the president is gone...maybe the end of the war in Iraq and the universal healthcare reform is actually the work of Bush and its just coming through now? We will judge Obama on what we can see he has accomplished and there is less ground to judge him on whatever we hope that he may accomplish sometime in the future.

We can talk about whatever we want, thank you very much.

well, obama has nothing to do with the patroit act.

guantanamo bay's no longer accepting prisoners. so therefor it's closed. yeah it still holds prisoners but where do you send them when the countries they're from won't even accept them? i'l; wait.

and yeah you can talk about it, but unless you vote you have no right to say 'this isn't working'..stop being a bitch and do something about it.

1. Except allowing to stand and thus supporting it.

2. I'll agree that it is a big improvement from the time that stuff was going on. Supposedly if you can't send them home you can imprison them in American prisons?

3. I'll not even dignify that one with an answer.

nacirema

because you don't vote you idiot.

and the patroit act can't just be magically waven away. bush designed it to be something that's gonna be there for along time. and as long as our government instills fear in us the people will let it stand.

What?! Liquid water has been discovered?! When was that? O_o
I thought there was nothing besides the dry ice in the polar caps and the slight water vapor in the atmosphere.

i'm sorry to break it to you, but mars is dead.

it might have liquid water on it but that waters bombarded by deadly radiation due to now miniscuel the atmosphere of mars is.

but hey, if thereslife under the seas on earth living off chemosynthesis then theres bound to be life on atleast titan.

That and Mars atmosphere is 95% Carbon Dioxide. I do believe Mars can be made livable one day via terraforming like SB menitioned.

it's cores dead.

why would we waste hunam resources on an aready dead planet?

and further more why wouldn't we focus on the crisis' on earth? theres a possibility that it might hapen..but nowin my life time, or my non exsisting kids lifes.

Because one day in the very distant future Earth will be too crowded and we will need somewhere else to live, so colonising other planets would be the logical thing to do.

At the rate we're breeding I'd be surprised if we last the next 150 years.

i vote for Titan

Not sure about Titan, while it does have a thick atmosphere, it's mostly nitrogen. Altough seeing a giant ringed planet in the night sky would be breathtaking. lol

Basically Mars would be our only potential candidate. We'd first have to advance significantly in space travel if we hope to travel to other solar systems.
