Server-problems at the FFF?

Some problems to access this place occur more and more these days.

I was writing Clove a message on MSN about this, but it failed to send.
I'm not sure what's a matter with the server, I know we have an hourly error thing, but that only usually happens for a few minutes and then it's back up again. It happened a few nights ago aswell.

It happens twice since I joined which was like a few hours ago. I couldn't get on the site 15-20 minutes each time

I've also been getting 502, 503, 504 and bad gateway errors when on here, which I've never had before... O_o

I have submitted a ticket to the hosters. I await their reply so that we can hopefully get this sorted :)

The host has been good up until now, hopefully it's just a short term glitch. If it continues it may be time to switch hosting companies. I can help out if need be Clove :)

Cheers gaz but we're getting a good deal here as I'm friends with the owner of the company. Due to the size of the forum it would cost too much to host elsewhere.

It was almost completely fine today.

It kept working and then not working around 9:20 - 9:50am BST

Also there might have been another freezing problem around lunchtime, but I'm not too sure about that one.

Okay. At 13:28 BST my hoster said that it shouldn't freeze up anymore and that it's fixed so hopefully we're all good again. The forum does do a backup every 4 hours though at 1am - 5am - 9am - 1pm - 5pm - 9pm where it may slow down or stop working altogether for about 5 minutes.

I've reduced backups to just once a day now due to issues so there shouldn't be much downtime anymore.

What are the negative aspects of that reduction?

That if we get hacked or something we could lose up to 23 hours of posts but that isn't much anymore so it doesn't matter.

We have installed a new program that will make the forum much more stable but I am waiting for the domain company to change the nameservers to those I have requested before any of it works. Should be done today with any luck.

There are a few problems with the domain registration company that me and Clove are trying to sort out. There's also the fact that the site keeps growing and our pockets don't LOL...The bigger the forum gets the more expensive it becomes to maintain.
