It was a mix of "Never seen them so I voted rainbows" and "I voted rainbows as unfortunately I haven't seen them"

Alien has got to be my favourite. And not just in the franchise. It also tops the bill on my horror list, and it's definitely one my favourite sci-fi films. Also, the best Ridley Scott I've seen. Right from the opening sequence to the arrival on the alien planet, the face-huggers and up until the final monologue, the film is absolutely fantastic. Giger's paranoid and macabre yet strangely beautiful artwork enhances this. To me, this is The Shining meets Star Wars as well as Das Boot - and Alien beat most of those!

Aliens was also fantastic, a very good take on the series. After that, the series went straight on down, it was never really good again. Alien 3 is very moody and I'll give it credit for that. Resurrection was unneeded and strange, yet ultimately I found it more satisfying than the third chapter. Both very much inferior to the two original films, though.

alien resurrection should never have been made. it was awful. even i'll admit that and i'm obsessed with the series
