I like how you can choose dungeons in no particular order in this one.

I even managed to play throughout the whole game without ever picking up the sword from the old man in the cave. Only for beating Ganon I had to go back for that sword.

How I did it? First I took those 100 rupees at the hidden place in the upright corner of the game.
Then I bought the blue candle, some bombs, burned some trees where money was hidden, got the bow in dungeon 1, bought the arrows and then I already had an arsenal good enough to move on without the sword.
